For the last two years, I have worked for myself full-time. For 5 years before that, I did so part-time. If you calculate quickly, I have spent the last 7 years investing in my business without having or needing a boss who looks over my shoulder. I have enjoyed not having to report the exact minute at which I started my day, how long I took over lunch, and whether or not that was really a dentist appointment. Seven years of freedom then, right? Right.

If you're lucky, you have a few minutes of time left for yourself at the end of the day. But chances are you are like most of us and the day slips from your grasp before you've had time to finish all you wanted to do.

Well, here are a few tools that will help you save precious seconds and spend it in a more productive manner...

Several years ago, I started a job. It was my first "career" job, one that was not only a way of making money while in school but was in my field of study and could help me start my climb up the ladder.

When my 3-month probation was up, I had a meeting with my boss to confirm my permanent hire. In that meeting, he told me that if I kept my mouth shut, didn't raise my hand too much and just waited my turn, in about 10 years, I could make it to the senior manager's posi...

“Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” – Henry Ford

Our society teaches us to shy away from failure. We will work endless hours, lie, stab coworkers and friends in the back if needed; we will do everything we have to avoid failure.

But nothing teaches us faster and more efficiently than a little face plant. We should learn to embrace it. Getting back up is much more important than never falling down.

It never ends: there is always something new and interesting to stuff into our brain. Whether or not that information is useful right away is unimportant. It's worthwhile regardless.

Finding that information, however, can be time-consumin. Some people have made it their day job to research and share relevant content. So why not cut to the chase and benefit from their work, right?

Let me introduce you to a few of my favourite podcasts. I've done the rese...

“Small is not just a stepping-stone. Small is a great destination itself.”

― Jason Fried, Rework

It’s an inevitable progression, I guess. Before you get married, you get asked “When are you going to settle down?”. And then, once you do get married, the question changes. It becomes "When are the kids coming?". Every time I get asked this, my womb feels like answering: "It's none of your business, really" but instead I politely answer: "Not yet; the time will come."

One of the perks of now being an entrepreneur is finally being able to dedicate time to causes and charities that I care about. For years, I wasn't able to take a day off to volunteer for something or invest in a cause. But now, I can so I am...

For the next 2 days, I will be hanging out with 5,000 kids and teens at We Day Montreal. We Day is a series of international events that bring together 2,3 million kids in Canada, the US and UK who have earned their ticket to the inspir...

Since becoming a full-time entrepreneur, I've noticed how fast a work day can fly by. There is not enough time to do everything. Yet I cannot afford to miss a single deadline, whether for a client project, source deductions (God knows the government won't forgive you...) or school work. I just have to remember everything.

Problem is: I've never been good at memorizing things. And especially not lists of unrelated, but equally important, items. So I've had to figure ou...

Patrick Pichette, CFO of Google, announced a few days ago that after 7 years working for the company , he is retiring to spend more time with his family (you can read the full statement here). He explains his decision in these words:

"This summer, Tamar and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. When our kids are asked by their friends about the success of the longevity of our marriage, they simply joke that Tamar and I have spent so little time together that "i...
